The youth captures the story of Bonaire
In recent months, Bonaire launched the first edition of the Content Creation Bootcamp: an intensive program in which young people learned to capture the stories of their island. Eighteen high school students, equipped with cameras, microphones, and above all curious and open questions, worked together with local professionals.
What has been passed down for generations in living rooms and backyards is being given a new narrative form by a young generation of creators. For six weeks, the group traveled across the island to talk to older people, investigate rituals, and document traditions that often only survive orally. ‘San Juan i San Pedro, Karnaval, Regatta, Dia di Rincon, Barí, and Maskarada’. All themes that are deeply rooted in Bonairean history.
This spring, the boot camp will travel further. In March, a collaboration with Moon25 Pictures will start in Curaçao. An edition in Aruba will follow.
